El filme cuenta cómo un equipo de reporteros del Boston Globe revela los escándalos de pederastia cometidos durante décadas por unos curas de Massachussets, acusaciones que la archidiócesis de Boston intentó ocultar y que sacudió a la Iglesia Católica en su conjunto. El largometraje ganó dos premios Oscar: mejor película y mejor guión original.
