PlayStation Plus, Extra y Premium vs Xbox Game Pass, comparativa de los servicios de suscripción

PlayStation ha anunciado que PlayStation Plus y PlayStation Now, servicio de suscripción y streaming respectivamente, se unifican dentro de un mismo "paraguas" que pasará a ser conocido simplemente como PS Plus.

A partir de ahora, podremos suscribirnos eligiendo entre niveles, cada uno con un precio y ventajas diferentes. 

Esta renovación del servicio es el rumoreado Spartacus, la respuesta de PlayStation al éxito del Game Pass de Xbox.

Ahora bien, ¿cómo se comparan ambas ofertas? ¿Cuál ofrece más y mejores ventajas por menos precio? Y lo que es más importante: ¿es mejor PS Plus o Xbox Game Pass? A continuación, repasamos las características de ambos servicios y sacamos conclusiones.

El precio de Game Pass

El precio de Game Pass Ultimate de 1 mes es de 12,99 euros (sin contar las ofertas en periodos promocionales) mientras que la suscripción a Game Pass es de 9,99 euros al mes. Más adelante os contamos las diferencias entre ambos servicios. 

En Ultimate y Game Pass para PC podemos disfrutar de una oferta de lanzamiento, en que el primer mes de servicio cuesta tan sólo 1 euro. 

Qué incluye Game Pass

Nuestra suscripción a Game Pass incluye actualmente 454 juegos que podemos descargar y jugar en nuestra consola Xbox Series X, Xbox One o PC. Este catálogo incluye juegos de lanzamiento "first party" disponibles desde el primer día. 

Esto significa que desde el lanzamiento podemos disfrutar de títulos como Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, y futuros lanzamientos como Starfield (desarrollado por Bethesda). Además de los juegos de Microsoft (y todos los estudios de Xbox Game Studios), Game Pass incluye los juegos de EA Play. 

Entre los juegos de EA Play se cuentan F1 2021, Mass Effect Legendary Edition o It Takes Two. Hay otros juegos "third party" que también se pueden jugar desde el lanzamiento. Este ha sido el caso de Rainbow Six Extraction, Outriders o Tunic.

El nuevo mando de Xbox Series X es retrocompatible con Xbox One, Windows 10 y Android.

Cómpralo al mejor precio

El catálogo de Game Pass se actualiza constantemente con nuevos títulos que se unen al catálogo y otros que salen del servicio. Una vez que termina nuestra suscripción, perdemos el acceso a los juegos que hayamos descargado.

Game Pass incluye las ventajas de Xbox Live Gold, es decir la posibilidad de descargar los Games With Gold mensuales y el juego online. Si nos suscribimos a Game Pass Ultimate, tenemos la posibilidad de jugar por streaming a un catálogo de 352 juegos (en consola).

Para qué plataformas está disponible Game Pass

Game Pass está disponible para las consolas de Microsoft tanto de la generación actual, Xbox One, como "next gen", Xbox Series X y Series S. 116 juegos de Game Pass están optimizados para la nueva generación. 

Esta optimización, dependiendo de los juegos, puede ser un aumento de resolución hasta 4K, tasa de FPS hasta 120, HDR o reducción en los tiempos de carga. Gracias al servicio Smart Delivery, la versión que descargamos a nuestra consola es la mejor disponible para nuestra plataforma. 

En dispositivos móviles se puede jugar, a través de streaming, a una selección de 352 juegos, tanto en smartphones Android como Apple. La selección de juegos disponibles para PC con Game Pass también es de 352 juegos. 

Diferencias de Ultimate con Xbox Game Pass

Si tenéis dudas entre ambos planes, aquí resumimos en qué se diferencia Xbox Game Pass de Ultimate. El segundo plan incluye todos los servicios de Game Pass, y además incluye contenidos exclusivos "in game" para determinados títulos y la posibilidad de jugar en la nube a una selección de títulos. 

Además de disfrutar del juego en la nube con XCloud en PC y consolas, hay una serie de dispositivos verificados, que podemos usar. El rendimiento de los juegos en XCloud depende de nuestra conexión online.

Los dispositivos verificados para Xbox Cloud son iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPad Air (3rd y 4th Gen), iPad Pro 11 2nd Gen, iPad Mini 5th Gen, iPad 8th Gen, Surface Go, Surface Go 2, Surface Pro 6, Surface Pro X, Surface Pro 7+, Surface Laptop, Surface Laptop 3, Surface Book 2 y posteriores.

Game Pass cuenta con un total de 152 juegos adaptados para controles táctiles, directamente desde la pantalla de nuestro dispositivo. Además, podemos jugar por streaming con un mando Bluetooth o conectado a nuestro dispositivo a través de USB. 

Retro en Game Pass

En total Xbox One, Series X y Series S son retrocompatibles con 63 juegos de la Xbox Original (que en 2022 ha cumplido 20 años) y 632 juegos de Xbox 360. De todos ellos, Game Pass cuenta con una selección de 67 juegos retro.

El Precio de PS Plus en sus tres opciones

El nuevo PlayStation Plus ofrece tres niveles de suscripción, cada uno con sus propios precios y ventajas. Son los siguientes:

• PlayStation Plus Essential - 8,99 € al mes / 24,99 € al trimestre / 59,99 € al año
• PlayStation Plus Extra - 13,99 € al mes / 39,99 € al trimestre / 99,99 € al año
• PlayStation Plus Premium - 16,99 € al mes / 49,99 € al trimestre / 119,99 € al año

Qué incluye PS Plus Essential, Extra y Premium

Por supuesto, dependiendo del nivel al que nos suscribamos tendremos acceso a diferentes beneficios. Son los siguientes:

PlayStation Plus Essential 

• Dos juegos descargables al mes. Aquí podéis ver los juegos filtrados de PS Plus en abril.
• Descuentos exclusivos.
• Almacenamiento en la nube para las partidas guardadas.
• Acceso al multijugador online.

PlayStation Plus Extra

• Incluye todas las ventajas del nivel Essential.
• Añade un catálogo de hasta 400 títulos para PS4 y PS5, incluidos juegos de PlayStation Studios y desarrolladores asociados externos. En el nivel Extra, los juegos son descargables.

PlayStation Plus Premium

• Incluye todas las ventajas de los niveles Essential y Extra.
• Añade hasta 340 juegos más, entre los que se incluyen: títulos de PS3 (disponibles mediante transmisión en streaming en la nube) y un catálogo de clásicos de la PlayStation original, PS2 y PSP (disponibles en streaming y para descargar).  
• Pruebas por tiempo limitado que permiten probar ciertos juegos antes de comprarlos.

Para qué plataformas está disponible PS Plus

El nuevo servicio PS Plus estará disponible en PS4 y PS5. Como sucedía co PS Now, en el nivel Premium será posible transmitir juegos desde consolas PS4, PS5 o PC.

Retro en PS Plus

Sólo la opción PS Plus Premium cuenta con juegos retrocompatibles (sin contar los juegos de PS4 que se pueden jugar en PS5 de forma nativa). Dicho esto, la cantidad de juegos de PS One, PS2, PS3 y PSP que estarán disponibles para descargar en el servicio (y ahora están en PS Now) es enorme. 

En cuanto a los juegos de PS3, como hasta ahora, se podrán jugar con la suscripción a través de streaming, pero no se podrán descargar a nuestra consola o PC.

Ventajas e inconvenientes de PS Plus y Game Pass cara a cara

El precio de Game Pass (el mismo que PS Plus Essential) permite jugar a un catálogo de juegos mucho mayor. Game Pass Ultimate y PS Plus Extra tienen el mismo precio, y prestaciones similares. En este caso, la suscripción de Microsoft se beneficia de poder jugar títulos first party desde el día 1, y su catálogo de juegos es mayor: 454 vs 400 juegos. 

Para el usuario centrado en juegos actuales, la opción de Microsoft (a falta de conocer todos los juegos de PS5 que llegarán finalmente a PS Plus Extra) parece la más atractiva y la que ofrece más por menos. Además los juegos de Microsoft en día 1 son un valor añadido.  

Sin embargo, PS Plus Premium es una suscripción mucho más "ambiciosa" y ofrece un catálogo apabullante, sobre todo con los títulos retro de PS, PS2, PSP y PS3. Para el usuario especialmente interesado en el retro, PS Plus Premium resulta mucho más atractiva.

Mando DualSense de PS5

Con novedades como la vibración háptica o los gatillos con resistencia variable, el gamepad DualSense de PS5 ofrece nuevas sensaciones de juego que aumentan la inmersión. La consola solo viene con un mando, así que necesitas otro para jugar en multijugador local.

Cómpralo al mejor precio

La gran pega es que en el caso de los juegos de PS3 sólo se va a poder jugar en streaming, lo que nunca da tan buenos resultados como descargar el juego a nuestra consola. Por no hablar de que si hay mantenimiento o problemas en los servidores, será imposible jugar.

Además, no se ha especificado si será posible adquirir los juegos de la primera PlayStation, PS2 y PSP de manera independiente. Si sólo queremos jugar a uno o dos títulos, ¿será también necesario suscribirse?

El último gran pero, y la gran desventaja del nuevo PS Plus respecto a Game Pass, es que no habrá juegos de lanzamiento disponibles desde el día 1. Hablando sobre esto, Jim Ryan ha mencionado que la opción no es viable... Pero que los tiempos avanzan tan rápido que tampoco lo puede descartar.

Ambos modelos de suscripción incluyen el juego online y otras ventajas, como contenido descargable para los juegos, ofertas y suscripciones.
